FIELD STUDY 02 / Signal Sequence
Sequence memory game
Watch a pattern of signals, then reconstruct its order. Build from three signals to an eight-step sequence.
Signal Sequence
3 signals · recall them in order
Practice rounds don’t change your level or notebook. Your daily session does.

The task
Sequence recall is about order. In Signal Sequence, cells on a nine-cell board light up one at a time. After the pattern ends, repeat it by selecting the cells in the same order. A cell can appear more than once, so remembering only the locations is not enough.
- 01
Watch the full pattern before selecting anything. The numbered board stays in the same arrangement.
- 02
After the final signal, select the cells in order. Your selections appear below the board. Use Undo if you make an input mistake.
- 03
Check the sequence and compare your order with the original. Complete three rounds for your session score.
Give the sequence a structure.
Try treating the signals as a path across the board, or dividing a longer sequence into small groups. For example, 2–5–2 followed by 8–6 can be easier to rehearse as two groups than as five separate choices. Repeated cells matter: don’t remove them from the pattern. Keep the same approach long enough to see how it works for you.
Know what you’re working toward.
Each signal in the correct position in the sequence counts. Recalling all the right cells in a different order does not earn a perfect score. Three rounds are combined: nine signals at level 1, increasing to 24 at level 6. The level changes with consistency, rather than one unusually good round.

Questions about this exercise
How long do the sequences get?+
There are six levels. Level 1 has three signals per round, and each level adds one signal, up to eight at level 6. The display speed stays the same.
Is this a memory test?+
It is a game with a personal performance record. It is not a standardised assessment, an IQ test, or a comparison with population averages.
How do I reach the next level?+
Score at least 85% in this exercise in two consecutive completed sessions at the same level. Your other exercises can remain at different levels.
