The task

The Briefing separates reading from recall. You begin a session with a fictional note about an appointment. After Object Archive and Signal Sequence, you answer questions about that note. The intervening exercises create a delay without asking you to sit and wait for a timer.

  1. 01

Read the field note at your own pace. Start with three details: a person, a meeting place and an object.

  2. 02

Continue through the spatial and sequence exercises. The note is hidden while you do these tasks.

  3. 03

Return to the briefing questions. Choose one answer for each detail, then save the complete session to see your results.

Turn separate facts into one scene.

Try picturing the person arriving at the named place with the object. At later levels, include the appointment time and reference number in that scene. Alternatively, summarise the note in one sentence before moving on. These are optional ways to approach the exercise; use your notebook to compare your own game performance.

Know what you’re working toward.

Each correctly recalled detail earns one point. There are three details at level 1, four at level 2 and five at level 3. Questions offer four answer choices. Because scores use whole details, advancing requires perfect recall in two sessions at the same level: 2/3, 3/4 and 4/5 all fall below the 85% threshold.

Questions about this exercise

How long is the delay?+

It depends on how long you take to complete the two intervening exercises. There is no fixed delay, so this is not a standardised delayed-recall test.

What are the extra details?+

Level 2 adds a meeting time. Level 3 adds a reference number, giving you five details to retain in total.

Does a low score mean I have a memory problem?+

No. This game cannot diagnose a health condition. Its results describe this particular exercise and depend on factors such as attention and familiarity with the task.
